Federal Aviation Administration uses solar power to monitor changing weather conditions amidst the high mountain peaks in Lake Clark Pass.  Pilots can view real time weather conditions provided by a video camera prior to takeoff.  All the power for the system is provided by two small wind turbines and 8 solar panels.
